A Pinterest Week - Day 1

Since Mike has been gone for awhile and may still be gone for up to another 12-13 days, I am starting to go a little stir crazy with the girls.

This afternoon I sat down and went through my Pinterest boards and made a plan for something fun to do each day this week. We ran to town tonight and picked up a few things I would need to make this happen.

Tonight's activity was making some shirts to wear on the 4th of July. (This was more of an activity for me, but Kylie got to help a little).

I already had red rick rack, HeatnBond and a white onesie for Sidney. So I needed some blue ribbon and a white shirt for Kylie. We hit up the local craft store and got what we needed for tonight and for later this week. Then we went to Shopko to find a white shirt for Kylie. Little did I know it would be slightly difficult. There was nothing in the baby/toddler/preschooler section. So I went to the girls section. I saw an adorable white tank top that had a little lace and glitter on the top and bottom and was excited since it would be perfect and they had an XS. Then I looked at the price and saw that this little girls tank top was $17! I don't know about you, but I'm not buying my 3 year old a $17 tank top when I wouldn't even do that for myself! :)
Then I thought maybe they would have those undershirts you can buy for little girls. I was lucky enough to find a package of Fruit of the Loom tank tops that had a white tank in it. It was also the only size S there, so I lucked out! Kylie was also excited because the other two tanks in the package were a pink one and a purple one. (Her two current favorite colors!)

So after a some rick rack cutting, some extremely difficult bow making, and some serious HeatnBond issues; leading to tacky glue use; we finally got the shirts done. We made Kylie's first, and as a result, I like Sidney's better. :) Even though the iron made the red bleed out onto her white onesie a bit.

Here are the finished products (horrible pictures, I know). Looking forward to putting the girls in them on the fourth!

my seriously horrible plan with the heatnbond

Yea Tack Glue! (here's to hoping the shirts don't
get too dirty and require serious washing! Ha,
who am I kidding!)

The finished product.
:)

Tomorrow is either going to be rubber band painting or moon sand. Not sure yet!

Here is the link to the site with the shirt idea. - I for the life of me can't make bows from scratch. And how she made her bows cute like that - I don't think I will ever figure out!

An ODD post

This is post is pretty much for my mother.

I spent the day trying to get fresh photos of the girls for her since they are going to my aunt's birthday party this weekend and will be seeing family.

I can't for the LIFE of me get them to attach to a freaking email, so the only way I can get them to her, is through this.

Hope you guys enjoy a bunch of random pictures of uncooperative girls on the first day of Summer!!

Cute Pictures

I wanted to take some new pictures of the girls for Father's Day to send out in cards and to give Mike.

The field next to our house is hay or alfalfa or something and is about as tall as Kylie now, so I thought I would take some pics out there. I got a couple cute ones of Kylie, but Sidney refused to sit out there and wouldn't even give me one pic. :) So I have a couple cute one's of her climbing on me.

This past week I also tried glow-sticks in the bath (would have been cooler with a lot more sticks, only had 4 of the skinny ones) and we had play group at a local park, a random dress up dance party in the living and she had popscicles with the neighbors. Included are a few pics from this past week.

Today was pretty low key since Mike is gone. It was Hayden's birthday today, so Kylie spent some time over there for her little party and then spent the rest of the afternoon/evening playing outside with the neighbors. I want her to get as much play time with them as she can because Jen told me Friday that they are moving down to Riverton. They've spent the last couple of days packing and driving things down to their new house. Kylie has been having a hard time with the idea that Beau and Hayden are leaving. She is finally to the age where she really understands that she probably won't see them again. I can't even imagine how she will react if (well, really more like When) we move again.

Here are the pics. :)

practicing our senior portrait poses already!

AHHHH

We made this picture for Mike this year. - FYI - wait
until your youngest is able to follow directions and you can
trust them to sit by themselves on something up off the ground!

Glow stick bath party!

Playgroup consisted of playing in the park
sprinklers for the majority of the time.

Sidney didn't really care about anything at playgroup -
she actually slept through most of!

Dress Up Dance Party!

She was also singing the whole time - thus
the open mouth photos.

Popscicle break in the shade of the trampoline!
(Kylie was pretty sad when they took down the trampoline
down today to move it to their new house)

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and wonderful Father's Day.

Glow Bubbles

Saturday night we promised Kylie that she could stay up until it was dark enough to try out some glow-in-the-dark bubbles she got from the neighbor.
The paper on the inside of the package says "You are about to have an awesome outdoor play experience like never before!" - (I don't think I would go that far...)
FYI - you need almost complete darkness to see the individual bubbles glow, the garage worked nicely. It was pretty fun though to see the ground glow where some solution dripped or where the bubbles popped. Kylie was also glowing before we went in.

None of my pictures worked out too well. Still trying to figure out the right settings for night photos.

The bottle of bubble solution after I mixed it all up.

really blurry, but you can see her wand glowing too

getting ready to blow bubbles

where solution dripped on the table and where a bubble popped

Not sure if we would ever actually buy the store stuff. It would probably be better for older kids who can stay up until midnight on a cloudy night so it is super dark. (We could only see the actual bubble glowing in the almost pitch black garage.)

-------------

It was crazy hot Sunday, and Monday (low 90s). Was pretty humid out here yesterday - not normal. We had a pretty serious storm miss us yesterday. I guess it had ping pong ball sized hail. Glad that missed us...I didn't want to deal with whatever that would have done our vehicles.
Going to be crazy hot today and tomorrow (95!) too. Glad the air conditioner got put in Saturday too. It has helped to keep the house around 75. Even though 75 is pretty warm, we are just hoping to keep it at least 10 degrees cooler in the house, than it is outside. Gotta love un-insulated old farm houses. Hoping after this week of high temps, it will cool off for a little bit and only be in the low 80s for awhile. I Hope!

Hope your weather is nice where ever you are and that you have a great week!

Fresh Air Hike

On Saturday we decided to get outside for some fresh air before we have this week of upper 80s and 90s. We headed to a place called Castle Gardens that is over near Ten Sleep.
We had a picnic lunch at a campsite and then took a little hike around the area. It was nice to get out and have some fun. It was nice to really introduce Kylie to real hiking and I think Sidney even enjoyed getting toted around in a carrier for a little bit too.

Here are some random pics from our hike. There were so many I wanted to share....but I tried to keep it down to these. (yes, I know just "these" is 16 pictures - but trust me, it could easily be worse!)

Here we go

Some view

I love how both girls have their eyes closed. :)
Once we got to the top, we could look out over this little valley

pretty view

How a lot of Kylie's hiking happened. :)

More help.

Getting tired towards the end

Me and a tired Sidney

our only attempt at a timed family photo.
Mike is telling Sidney to look at the camera, Sidney is looking for me,
Kylie is staring at the new vehicles that are driving in and
I am the only one able to smile. :)

Mike spent the previous week at work building this lovely fence
:)

Kylie loved taking pictures of everything with our old camera.
:)

We got back to town and treated ourselves to
our first "ice" of the season. (snowcones)
Sidney slept through her first ice experience...
will def. photograph the first time she gets to eat some!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend too!

FOOD!

Sidney loves to eat real food now. I think she would eat anything we gave her, except she still only barely has two teeth so I am a little hesitant to give her anything that won't more or less dissolve in her mouth. :)
She has gotten so much better at eating that I am now willing to let Kylie feed her. Kylie loves helping and I think Sidney finds it amusing.
Sidney is also a big fan of hard-boiled egg yolk and really loved the rice she had for supper last night.
Here are some random food photos from this past week. :)

Kylie helping

I love how in both photos Kylie has her mouth open
to "encourage" Sidney to open hers. :)

Egg yolk!
She grabs it a little too aggressively and usually squishes it,
but still enjoys it just the same.
