Random Fun

Here are some pictures from the past few days.

Thursday we had playgroup at one of the mom's houses. Water balloons, pool, sprinkler, swingset, water table, kitty cat, watermelon and trampoline. All the kids had a great time.

Thursday night the hospital was having a celebration that we went to. Cake and ice cream. Then a bunch of little kid games. Kylie had a fabulous time and we saw some people we knew so we got to hang out with them too. That was nice.

Friday night we went to supper at a playgroup family's house. It was suppose to be me and the girls and her, her husband and their two girls. But her husband got called out Friday morning to go to the fire down by Casper. He works at the BLM like Mike as a Range Management Specialist. But us 6 girls had a nice girls night.

Today was the town's parade. Celebrating 100 years. It was very long, and VERY hot. Thankfully quite a few floats were passing out those icee pops and one float passed out pop and another handed out water. There was a whole lot of candy tossed out too. Kylie got quite the collection.

It was hot!! and she was tired!

After the parade there was a luncheon out at the fairgrounds. It was alright, the people selling stuff didn't plan very well and didn't have enough food, but we got a little something to eat. Then Kylie got to get her face painted, for the second time in 3 days. She was pretty stoked. The lady was pretty impressed with how well she sat still for it too. Especially since she got a whole face full!

That was our week. Mike should be home tomorrow....unless he got moved to that fire down there and I don't know about it. There is no cell service where he is down cutting.

I called his cell tonight to leave a message about the fabulous song Kylie was singing in the tub tonight. It was turned off. He'll have a pretty hilarious message when he turns it on. :)

Her song went something like this:

...."

It was so cute and just hilarious! :) I wish I had the video camera going for it!

A Mountain Hike

This past Sunday we took advantage of Mike being home and took the opportunity to find some cooler temperatures. We packed a picnic and headed up to the mountain. We stopped at the big lake (its name is escaping me right now!) and ate lunch and then walked around there for a few minutes till we realized there is no real trail that goes around the lake like we hoped there was.

 

 

 

We packed up and then just drove around a couple of the campgrounds near the lake just to see what they were like and if we would want to hit them up later this summer. I think we will totally be doing that. Then we decided to take some random road and see where it headed to. Turns out it heads up to 4 other campgrounds and another lake called West Ten Sleep Lake. There are a number of trails that start out of there and head off into the wilderness. Kylie chose a trail and we took off. We were at 9100+ feet elevation, so I didn't really expect Kylie (or myself!) to last very long. :) We walked for a little while, stopped for a snack break and then walked some more. We got to a point where we left the trail and went down to check out the river. Turns out, just a little farther up, the trail turns and you have to cross the river. By walking through it. Needless to say, we weren't doing that with the girls. Not quite ready for that yet.

two ropes to hold onto as you cross the river.

We walked back down along the river and got to the top of the small waterfall and stopped for another snack break. Then we continued to follow the river down and eventually had to leave it and head back up to the trail. Kylie then slowed waaay down and gave up. She said she was too tired to walk anymore. Mike gave her a ride the rest of the way back.
It was nice to get out and see some new areas.
We also managed to see some random wood chuck like creature before it hid in the rocks and while we were driving back to the highway to head home we also got to see a moose. So that was fun too!

down there only once. And never complained about having a

wet foot.

Must be because she purposely sprays her shoed feet at home

with the hose.....

Getting a ride back

-I would have posted this yesterday, Monday or even Sunday night, but my computer has stopped recognizing my SD card when I put it in and I couldn't get the pictures downloaded to the computer. And I just found my cord for the camera yesterday! and of course last night the pictures wouldn't upload to the post!

Thank goodness Mike has mandatory days off. We got to enjoy him being home Saturday evening, Sunday and Monday. He left yesterday morning to go to one of the fuels crews projects. This one is in SW WY. They are planning on being home Sunday sometime.

Going to try to plan something cold for Thursday. Forecast calls for 100+ degrees. Not ok at all.

Fourth of July

We didn't do anything too crazy exciting for the fourth. The town of Ten Sleep had a parade so we drove over there to watch it. One of my friends saw us there and told us we had to sit with her family so we wouldn't be alone. So Kylie got to sit with a few kids and I had someone else to talk to too! The parade was about 30 minutes, just right for a 3 year old.

Afterwards, we took a short drive to the base of the mountain and back to Ten Sleep just so I could get Sidney to take a little nap! It was nice to drive by the river there and see the mountain again. Then I surprised Kylie by taking her to the splash pad. She didn't know I packed the swim suits. She was pretty excited. We also had a little picnic there too. After Sidney finally woke up and ate, I took her into the splash pad too. She did NOT approve. :) Which was ok, since Kylie wanted to pack up and go play at the park. So after some swinging, we packed up and drove home.

During Sidney's afternoon nap Kylie and I did a couple crafts. The first was to be flour stars across the lawn....I think the grass was too long because that was a complete and utter failure. So I figured we could just do them on the sidewalk. That worked out a lot better. I thought they would just get blown off by the crazy wind, or just wash off from the sprinklers in the morning. They did not. The sprinklers got them just wet enough that they turned into cement. I couldn't even hose them off the sidewalk this evening. Oh well, I'm sure little by little they will disappear. Then Kylie and I made q-tip fireworks. She enjoyed that too.

That evening, we played with those pull poppers that shoot out paper, some smoke bombs, and those snap its things that you throw at the sidewalk and they snap. She loved all that too. We were going to do sparklers, but I couldn't find an appropriate tool to light them without burning my hand off, and then the wind picked up and a little storm blew through. (We did them tonight!) Since Sidney was tired, and it was kinda raining, I decided not to go to the dump and watch people shoot off fireworks. Kylie got to sit in my window though and watch a decent display that someone near town was shooting off.

Tonight we did a box of sparklers and we actually saved some of everything to do with Mike when he gets home. (TOMORROW!!!!)

I still couldn't find our long handled lighters to light these.

So, yes, we totally lit them off of the oil lamp.

And lastly, here is what Sidney figured out how to do today. She was pretty proud of herself.

Stats

Here is the summary of her check up today. :)

16lbs 3 oz. Lost a couple of ounces. Probably due to her constant moving around. He was ok with it since she is eating fine. Puts her just under the 25th percentile.
Her nurse only measured her at 27 inches. I don't think so. I am not sure how I could have been off over an inch. I will be measuring her again after her nap. 27 inches puts her at the 25th percentile as well. If we go by my numbers..(28.25in) she is up at 75th percentile.
I told him that Kylie was down on the lower percentiles as well, so he understood why Sidney would probably be down there too.
He was impressed that she is "walking" around the room and was overall just happy with her health.
She has no shots this time around. Will have more around her birthday. In THREE months!

- I measured her again this afternoon. I got 28 inches this time. I am sticking with that. I measured her just like her nurse measured her! I think I am right. :)


On a separate note...I just need to vent this:
I think I am done breastfeeding. Sidney is starting to get frustrated with eating and seems to prefer having a bottle. I tried formula the other day just to see how she would handle it and she seemed to like it. Downed it like that. And it hasn't seemed to bother her system either. I don't think I will pump either because it is just being impossible to get anything.
I don't know why, but I am having a harder time giving up breastfeeding this time around. With Kylie, I was done at 6 months, couldn't handle doing it anymore. But now, I just want to keep going. I guess 9 months is better than nothing though, so I shouldn't feel too bad.

And on a third note -
I can't get the video to upload to anything. But keep in mind that I AM Trying!
