Getting started
Half way there
Our manual labor picking out all the rocks for us.
(don't worry, they were paid so much per full blue bucket) :)
Hauling rocks
Dumping rocks
Done picking!
We dumped all the rocks along the back of the house to try to help with
water dropping off the roof since we haven't gotten gutters yet.
On April 23rd Mike got to work and laid the black weed liner and poured mulch out front. We had bought 10 bags, but he had to go buy quite a few more.....
For the time being, until we get barrels and plants, we just laid the rocks that were there back across the mulch. Once we get barrels, we are going to "artfully" arrange the rocks between barrels. Maybe.
Our new goal is to get barrels and plants next spring.
We (Mike and the girls) also dug out the area around the tree out front and filled it with mulch too. Everything looks much more cohesive. :)
We also built a small section of fence last week! The fence and gate that were there were falling down and just a mess. So Mike pulled it out and we built a new, much taller (and more aesthetically pleasing) fence!
We are going to add 5 more boards on the opposite side of the
gate to fill in all the space. :)
Other than the barrels and some plants, the front is done....(well, I want a new screen door and front door, but that is a whole different project).
Our next project will be to pull up all the individual bricks and 2 random boards that are currently making up our sidewalk from the back deck to the garage. They are all crooked and uneven, so it was really hard to shovel it this past winter. We are hoping to get it done this fall before we have to shovel again! :)
