Dance Classes

Ever since we moved, Kylie has been asking if she can do ballet. I finally figured out that there are a couple of options in town. At one place for her age range she would have to take the combo class. It was ballet/tap/gymnastics. She insisted that she only wanted to do ballet and nothing else.
So we went with the other location that offers ballet and tap separately for her age group. The instructor told me that she's never had a child only do one type of dance, but if she ends up not liking tap, that she was fine with Kylie just doing ballet.

Also talked to the instructor about Sidney doing just ballet.....ya know, since she has to do everything her big sister does. She has a preschool class that is for 3-5 year olds, and even though she won't be three til the end of the month she said Sidney can try it and see how she does, and if it just doesn't work out then maybe next year.

Well, classes started this past Monday and after trying tap, both girls like it. So. Sidney has ballet/tap class for an hour, then we pick up Kylie from school, get her ready for her hour long ballet/tap class, then we come home and get ready for soccer games. This past Monday was a test and now I got 2 more crazy Mondays this month to get through. But we can do it.

Classes will be interesting for Sidney I think since parents are only allowed to watch one class a month. Otherwise, you drop your kid off and leave. I don't think I've ever left Sidney anywhere yet, besides at home with her grandparents.......hmm.
I'm hoping that all the dancing is enough distraction for her to stay focused.

I tried to take pictures.....It is held in an old church with little to no lighting and it being dance class.....they wouldn't stop moving. This is the best I could get....

I didn't think I could, but I got all of Sidney's
little hair into a bun!

Stretching

After Sidney's class I asked the instructor if she thought Sidney's age would be an issue, and she didn't even realize that Sidney wasn't three yet. (She's the tiniest one in this preschool class.) She said for not being 3 yet she is doing great! So that was encouraging. :)

There are 2 preschool classes, one on Monday and one Tuesday. I chose Monday since the instructor told me it'd be a smaller class....only 5 kids. I think that helps Sidney not get too distracted.

stretching.....neither of the girls are very
flexible...hopefully these classes help!

Kylie is 1 of about 15 in the K-1st grade class.

She ended up getting partnered up with the other little girl wearing
the same outfit during their tap practice.

Their instructor invited Sidney over to join them for the last activity of Kylie's class.
It was pretty cute.

So, now I'm a not just a soccer mom, I get to be a dance mom too. Classes are once a week for the whole school year and they have a recital in May. It should be pretty exciting. :)

Soccer Season

Soccer started here last week.
They have 6 games in September and then the season takes a break and starts again in April.

They have already played 3 games. Tied (1-1) for the first, lost (3-0) the second, and tied (0-0) for the third.

She has a few players on her team that are in her class so that is helpful, and we are family friends with the coach. So it was an easy transition into soccer this year.

Things are a little different here than in Worland though. They have goalies, play on a normal sized field, and all players play at the same time......even if that means they play 14 on 14. It's crazy! As a result they do learn more about defense, mid-field, forward positions. They also play by pretty serious rules. Not what we were used to in Worland.
We find it kind of weird that they are so hard core with youth soccer when they don't even have a soccer program for the HS. Youth soccer goes to age 12 and then you are done. Kind of a bummer.

Here are a few pictures from the last 3 games. :)

GAME 1
I love how much she winds up to kick it. :)

GAME 3

This is just half the field.

She's having fun and is glad she is doing it again. We are glad she likes it too, we just need to work on her endurance! :)

Kylie turns SIX!

Totally slacking.....sorry.

Kylie turned SIX last month! I'm still not sure where the last 6 years have gone....but they are gone.
Sometimes I wonder where the like last 10 years have gone!? (Especially now that we are surrounded by college kids!!)

The night before Kylie helped make the treat for her class. She wanted to do the same thing we did last year and I was fine with that. After finally finding the little cups I used..... I also had a really hard time finding the right kind of cookie to go with the frosting. Who knew it would be close to impossible to find shortbread cookies in town! (and don't get me started on finding wrapping paper!)
Anyways...

Happy to be helping. :)

progress....I forgot to take a finished product pic....

Sadly, Mike was out on a fire, but he was able to give her a call that morning and talk to her for a little while before we headed to school.
She got to be the helper at school, and got to blow out candles on a fake cake at school too. I think she was excited too because she was the last one in her class to turn 6, so now she is like the rest of them! :)
Birthday girl before heading to school
(I really need to work on her fake smiles...)
:)

The helper gets to be the front of the line for the day.
All ready to lead her class in for school.

Kylie wanted a Frozen type of birthday, so I did my best. She requested a strawberry cake with white frosting and blue snowflakes. And chocolate cupcakes incase she didn't like the cake......and I totally obliged.

My cupcake making helper.

And a reminder as to why I don't use helpers.....
her shoe....seriously?!

We opened massive amounts of gifts and after we went out for supper.
She can finally read her own cards! :)

Earrings!

Frozen books

a helpful little sister. :)

A color wonder blow pen kit.

Hugging a Frozen towel

scrapbook kit

hugging a ballet leotard and tights

a new laundry tote...frozen

a ballerina doll with matching outfit

And a cutie.

She requested to go to Donald's for supper. It's a little place in town that reminds me of a place back in Hibbing. They have fryer food and burgers and pizza and slushies and all kinds of flavors of icecream. It's pretty sweet.

After supper we came home and had some cake/cupcakes and icecream.

Getting sung to

Blowing out candles

And ended the night with some bubble gun action in the back yard.

It was a wonderful birthday.  And thank you to everyone who sent cards/gifts to her. She loves everything and totally owes you all thank you cards.....but I can't promise that will happen! :)

Hope you enjoyed the pictures! I used my camera to take video of everything so Mike can see it, but I haven't uploaded videos yet....and not sure if I will. Sorry! Maybe....I don't know.

Sidney's birthday is in 2 weeks, and I'm a little more prepared for hers. Most of Kylie's stuff came down to the last second, so hopefully I do better with Sidney's.

Not that I want her to turn 3 yet.....

Sigh.
